Leadership Lessons and Community Impact: KCC President Dr. Boyd and Team Meet with CEO Students

Community colleges play a vital role in empowering individuals and strengthening local economies by providing accessible education, workforce training, and essential community programs. On September 13, CEO students recently had the privilege of participating in a roundtable discussion with Dr. Michael Boyd, President of Kankakee Community College (KCC), and key members of his team.

The discussion offered valuable leadership insights and highlighted KCC’s mission to "Enhance quality of life through learning," which includes preparing students for higher education, workforce entry, and offering community enrichment programs like literacy, technical training, GED prep, and ESL. Dr. Boyd and his team also discussed the role of KCC in the economic landscape in the greater community.

The administrative team shared insights on being a reflective leader, learning from criticism, and the importance of mentorship. Joining Dr. Boyd were:
- Dr. Quincy Rose Sewell, VP for Academic Affairs
- Kari Nugent, VP for Advancement, Marketing, and PR
- Dr. Lesley Cooper, Director of Institutional Effectiveness

The session provided CEO students with valuable leadership insights and a deeper appreciation for KCC’s broad community impact—not only on the local economy but also on the overall well-being and growth of the community.

We greatly appreciate the continued support of Dr. Boyd and Kankakee Community College!
